Who is behind EU-Brazil collaborative research in ICT?
EUBrasilCloudFORUM is pulling out a list of European and Brazilian experts behing EU-BR collaborative research in ICT or companies whose services on Cloud and related technologies (IoT, Big Data, etc) are innovationg economies from both sides of the Atlantic. Have a look at who they are and get in touch with them.
Flavio Rech Wagner is Professor at the Institute of Informatics of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where he has been working since 1977 and served as Dean from 2006 to 2011. He was also Director of the Zenit Science Park at UFRGS, from 2011 to 2016. He is also a Board Member of CGI.br since 2008 and was the President of the Brazilian Computer Society from 1999 to 2003. Flavio is a Researcher at the Embedded Systems Lab of UFRGS, where his research interests include adaptive multiprocessor platforms, networks-on-chip and model-driven engineering of embedded systems.
José Luiz Ribeiro Filho holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the London University. He started his career as researcher at Núcleo de Computação Eletrônica (UFRJ) having taken part and leadership in several computer architecture and computer networks projects. Between 1996 and 2000 was responsible for the consolidation of the RNP, representing the institution and Brazil in various international forums.
Michel Riguidel is the Head of the Department of Computer Science and Networks, at Telecom ParisTech (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications, www.telecom-paristech.fr) in Paris, where he lectures in security and advanced networks.His research is oriented towards security of large Information Systems and Networks and architecture of communication systems (grids, Future Internet, mobile networks).
Alfonso developed his PHD at CERN and University of Valencia as well as a MBA at MIT, being author of many international articles and several books. Alfonso works as a Cloud Computing Director of Indra Sistemas since March 2013. He is the main developer of G technology, Gnubila's main asset and one of the major cloud platforms in the industry according to Gartner.
Matheus Rossato is an IT and Engineering Manager at ContaAzul. Matheus has 11 years of experience in operating large scale systems and in critical environment. For 7 years, he has been working on cloud computing and related technologies.
Prof. Djamel Sadok received his PhD of Computer Science at the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK in 1990. He is a member of staff at the Computer Science Center of the Federal University of Pernambuco since 1993. His research interests include communication systems, access networks, security, cloud computing and traffic classification. Currently he leads the GPRT team as well coordinates a number of research projects. Djamel was the Brazilian Coordinator of IMPReSS and SecFuNet EU-BR collaborative projects.
Americo Sampaio works as a Professor at the Postgraduate Program in Computing at University of Fortaleza and has been involved in several cloud computing projects collaborating with companies and other universities especially in the area of building solutions for deploying and evaluating IaaS cloud applications. One of these apps is "CloudCapacitor".
Marco is the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) of Aquarela. Marcos holds a Bachelor degree in Information Systems, and a Masters degree in Engineering and Knowledge Management by the Federal University of Santa Catarina and ITIL Foundation / EXIN and CTFL ISTQB certification. With 20 years of experience in software development, data analytics and IT industry, he has worked as a specialist in quality, knowledge engineer, project manager in several mission-critical projects for clients such as GM, American and British Government, MCTI (Brazilian Government), Embraer and Itaú Bank.
Luiz A. Silva holds the personal chair of Telecommunications at Trinity College, where he is a co-principal investigator of CONNECT, a telecommunications centre funded by the Science Foundation Ireland. His research focuses on distributed and adaptive resource management in wireless networks, and in particular radio resource sharing and the application of game theory to wireless networks. Luiz is the European Coordinator of EU-Brazil collaborative project FUTEBOL
Paweł Skrzypek is a software architect with experience and background in cloud and e-commerce solutions. He holds a master’s degree in computerscience from the University of Lodz (2000). He worked as ITconsultant, Development Team Leader, Analyst and Architect. Between 2006 and 2015, he worked as a Head of IT project management team and CIO advisor at Cyfrowy Polsat S.A., the biggest Polish and 4th European satellite platform operator.
Priscila's main research interests are multimedia traffic models, network performance, network planning and traffic engineering. Priscila is also interested in the development of software tools for simulation. Another recent topic she’d began to work is Future Internet and Trust and Security in Wireless Networks. Priscila is the Brazilian Coordinator of EU-Brazil collaborative project EUBrasilCloudFORUM.

Alexandru Stan is managing innovation at IN2. He is leading the research and innovation projects of the company, working in European R&D since 2007. He was involved in over 10 EU-funded projects and regularly acts as programme committee member for international conferences. Alexandru holds a MSc in Software Systems Engineering from the RWTH Aachen, and a BSc in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Jacobs University Bremen.
George Suciu graduated from the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology at the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, where he received also his M.Sc and PhD. He holds a MBA in Informatics Project Management from the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics of the Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest. His research work is focused on cloud communications, big data and IoT/M2M. Known languages: German, French, English.
Marco Vieira is a Full Professor at the University of Coimbra and is the Director of the Center for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra. Marco’s research focuses mainly in the area of dependable and secure computing, namely in benchmarking and experimental assessment of security and dependability attributes. His research interests also include failure prediction, evaluation and improvement of software robustness, fault injection, database systems and software development processes. Marco is the European Coordinator of EU-Brazil collaborative project EUBrasilCloudFORUM.
Konrad Wawruch is a President and Co-owner of 7bulls. He graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics, IT and Mechanics at the University of Warsaw; he holds Master of Science degree in Computer Science. He is a developer, analyst, consultant, manager and project manager in the area of innovative IT solutions.
