Dr. Carsten Oliver Schirra is holding a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from King’s College London. His career has taken him to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, and Washington University in St. Louis Medical School. As scientist at Philips Research, he worked at laboratories in Germany and the USA. His resesearch activities include clinical research at St. Thomas’ and Guys’ Hospital London, University Hospital Zurich, and Washington University in St. Louis Medical School.
As head of the recently founded Philips Research hub in Brazil, he oversees research projects focusing on locally relevant topics in Healthcare and well-being. Current focus are cloud-based solutions for hospital big data analytics, natural language processing and workflow orchestration, and telehealth propositions.
Carsten is also leading academic and clinical research partnerships between Philips Research and Brazilian institutions, to investigate disruptive propostions in HealthTech.
