20 Sep 2016

On 20th September, in Brasília, the rules for the 4th collaborative call between Brazil and the European Union will be announced. The goal is to support and promote research and development joint projects related to Internet of Things, 5G and Cloud Computing, thanks to the consortium composed by Brazilian, European and other foreign institutions & enterprises. The event will take place during the ICTWeek 2016, organised by Brazil and the European Commission, between 20th and 23rd September.

ICTWeek is a partnership between the Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia, Inovação e Comunicação (MCTIC – Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication) and the European Commission, from the sectoral dialogues framework. During the first day, the Rede Nacional de Ensino e Pesquisa (RNP – Brazil's National Education and Research Network) will organise a workshop, not only to showcase the preliminary results from projects funded by previous collaborative calls, but also to provide useful information to all entrepreneurs and researchers interested in participating in the 4th BR-EU collaborative call. During 2015, five projects focused on cloud computing and high performance computing benefited from a €7 million fund.

The workshop agenda has a dedicated session for an interactive discussion for all candidates interested to submit proposals. Researchers will be able to pitch their proposals, highlighting their project’s main goals, and even to find partners to join their proposals.

For the RNP project coordinator, Wanderson Paim, this call is a step further to consolidate the partnership between Brazil and EU in the ICT sector. “International Cooperation” is highly beneficial, since it promotes the creation of new partnerships and information exchange between researchers and industry, both interested in ICT development. Results have been acceptable, which makes us believe that we are on the right track”.

All those interested to join the workshop should fill the form available here:

RNP - Brazil's National Education and Research Network ( – recognized as a Social Organisation (Organização Social – OS), by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication (MCTIC - Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia, Inovação e Comunicação), is managed by the Ministry of Education (Ministério da Educação – MEC), the Ministry of Culture (Ministério da Cultura – MinC), the Ministry of Health (Ministério da Saúde – MS) and the Ministry of Defense (Ministério da Defesa – MD), which all participate in the RNP interministry programme (RNP Programa Inter Interministerial – PI-RNP).
