Towards EU-BR 5th collaborative call in cloud computing: your contribution counts

Recently, the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication (MCTIC) and the European Commission, DG CNECT, requested an open consultation on ICT topics relevant for European and Brazilian cooperation in the short coming future. The referred study had as main goal to make a list of topics for the 5th collaborative call between Europe and Brazil, to be launched in 2018. EUBrasilCloudFORUM supports this effort by collecting Brazilian and European researchers’ opinion about cloud computing topics. The results of this survey will be discussed during the EU-Brazil policy dialogue in Brussels, 11 November 2016.

We kindly ask you to complete the following survey in as much detail as possible, in order to ensure your opinion is represented adequately.

1. Future scenarios for cooperation

In EUBrasilCloudFORUM Deliverable D3.1 "Analysis and identification of the gaps and research opportunities related to cloud computing, including security", a summary of which is provided here, three future scenarios with potential priorities for cooperation between Europe and Brazil have been identified:

  1. SC1. Environmental monitoring;
  2. SC2. Smart water and energy management;
  3. SC3. Assisted health and well-being.

2. The drivers

D3.1 also describes a number of drivers for the development of the cloud computing technologies and models needed to support the scenarios defined, including:

  1. DR1. Cloud computing technologies are global and pervasive;
  2. DR2. Socio-economic factors affect the cloud computing market;
  3. DR3. Technological innovation creates new issues.

3. Research opportunities

The current State of the Art has several gaps that prevent overcoming the driving challenges and thus block the implementation of the scenarios. Such gaps represent research opportunities for the future EU Brazil collaboration
