"As head of UFSC Software/Hardware Integration Lab, Dr. Fröhlich coordinated a series of research projects on Wireless Sensor Networks since 2001. Many of the embedded devices and communication protocols developed for those projects have been consolidated to define a solid basis atop of which LISHA now operates one of the most expressive Internet of Things case in Brazil, featuring a Smart Solar Building, a multicity Environmental Monitoring Network and Smart Grid partnerships with major companies from the Energy sector. This assembly is now producing large amounts of Data that is being stored and processed on the Cloud. Big Data algorithms, Machine Learning in particular, are being applied to build automation intelligence out of patterns and relationships observed in the captured Data. Cloudscape is just the perfect place to share collaborative experiences on the frontiers of Could Computing."

Dr. Antonio Augusto Fröhlich is currently an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), where he also leads the Software/Hardware Integration Lab (LISHA) since 2001. With a PhD degree in Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, he has coordinated a number of R&D projects on embedded systems, including the ALTATV Open, Free, Scalable Digital TV Platform and the CIA² research network on Smart Cities and the Internet of Things. Major contributions from these projects materialized within the Brazilian Digital Television System (SBTVD) and Wireless Sensor Network technology for energy distribution, smart cities, and precision agriculture. Dr. Fröhlich is member of ACM, IEEE, and SBC.
