Shaping the cloud excellence between Europe and Brazil. EUBrasilCloudFORUM concertation meeting.
18th March 2016, CBPF, Rua Dr. Xavier Sigaud, 150 - Urca - Rio de Janeiro - RJ - Brazil
18 Mar 2016
EUBrasilCloudFORUM has been charged by the EC and MCTI to support the EU-BR collaborative projects in the collection and promotion of their results and activities. The results will be used to draft a research Roadmap on cloud computing, identifying collaboration needs and opportunities between Europe and Brazil for the European Commission and to MCTI, thus contributing to the definition of future cooperation priorities between the two regions.
The purpose of the EUBrasilCloudFORUM working meeting was to jointly form a plan of action with a first group of collaborative EU-BR projects and initiatives, kick off the working group (WG) activities in order to work together on the building of scenarios the projects will be working on; and involve these projects and initiatives in a very early stage with the shaping of the EUBrasilCloudFORUM Catalogue of EU-BR cloud computing tools & services.
According to the EU-Brazil Information Society Dialogue, the EU and Brazil need to engage more on a dialogue on cloud computing that addresses general cloud policy aspects, personal data protection, trans-Atlantic flows of data, portability of data, and appropriate remedies to vendor lock-in.
All the invited projects will be invited to position themselves with respect to the above topics. In particular, the discussion will focus on how the project's technical work and cross-border demonstrations will address / have addressed issues such as personal data protection, flows of data, portability of data, etc… We also expect that projects' results will provide information/evidence regarding the hurdles in these areas and recommendations for further actions either in research or policy.
