EUBra-BIGSEA developments on advanced QoS for secure cloud services supporting Big Data applications

WACC2017 and key EUBra-BIGSEA developments

EUBra-BIGSEA co-organized the International Workshop On Assured Cloud Computing And QoS Aware Big Data (WACC2017) with SECURECLOUD on 14 May. Bringing together researchers, practitioners and developers from the public and private sectors in Madrid the workshop took place in conjunction with the prestigious 17th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Grid Computing CCGRID.

With a technical focus on  the design, implementation, and evaluation of cloud services, data analytics tools, and security solutions to enable dependable Big Data applications, the workshop also marked a key turning point for EUBra-BIGSEA developments. The project is now reaching an important milestone with the release of the QoS cloud services and porting of the programming models to benefit from the functionalities of these components. In terms of QoS cloud services, EUBra-BIGSEA’s services support the deployment of self-managed clusters, accommodating the computing capacity to the actual workload, both horizontally and vertically, leveraging the monitoring capabilities of standard monitoring systems. Initial outcomes were presented at the EGI Conference and INDIGO summit 2017, in Catania, Italy, 9-12 May 2017.

What’s more, EUBra-BIGSEA is providing clear proof of application in real-world settings.  The project is developing a set of applications for the detection and prediction of traffic jams, identifying the most pleasant routes and improving the quality of the information from transportation routes.
